Magical Rajasthan -- Incredible India
Rajasthan literally, "Land of Kings" or "Land of Kingdoms", is India's largest state by area or 10.4% of India's total area. It is located on the western side of the country, where it comprises most of the wide and inhospitable Thar Desert (also known as the "Rajasthan Desert" and "Great Indian Desert") and shares a border with Pakistan along the Sutlej-Indus river valley. Elsewhere it is bordered by other Indian states: Gujarat to the southwest; Madhya Pradesh to the southeast; Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to the northeast; and Punjab to the north. Its features include the ruins of the Indus Valley Civilization at Kalibanga; the Dilwara Temples, a Jainpilgrimage site at Rajasthan's only hill station, Mount Abu, in the ancient Aravalli mountain range; and, in eastern Rajasthan, the Keoladeo National Park near Bharatpur, a World Heritage Site known for its bird life. Rajasthan is also home to two national tiger reserves, the Ranthambore National Park in Sawai Madhopur and Sariska Tiger Reserve in Alwar. The state was formed on 30 March 1949 when Rajputana – the name adopted by the British Raj for its dependencies in the region was merged into the Dominion of India. Its capital and largest city is Jaipur, located on the state's eastern side.

OLD DELHI - A sight-seeing tour of Old Delhi would entail visiting the Raj Ghat - the memorial site where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated; Jama Masjid - the largest mosque in India.
NEW DELHI - An extensive sight-seeing tour of New Delhi would include a visit to the Humayun's Tomb, the Qutub Minar, a drive along the ceremonial avenue - Rajpath, past the imposing India Gate, Parliament House, the President's Residence and would end with a drive through the Diplomatic Enclave. Night stay in Delhi.
Day 03 / Delhi - Agra ( By road Approx. 4 Hrs.)
After breakfast drive to Agra. Arrive and transfer to hotel. Later visit the Agra Fort, containing the Pearl Mosque - the rusty and majestic red- sandstone fort of Agra stands on the banks of the river Yamuna and the construction wasstarted by Emperor Akbar in 1566. At the Diwan-I-Khas (hall of private audience) where marble pavilions with floral inlays lend an ethereal ambience, the Emperor sat on his gem-studded peacock Throne and met foreign ambassadors and rulers of friendly kingdoms. Also visit Itmad-up-Dau’s tomb, built by Noorjehan in memory of her father. Night stay in Agra.
Day 04 / Agra - Jaipur (By road Approx. 5 Hrs.)
Early morning at sunrise visit the world famous Taj Mahal, built by the Mughal Emperor Shahjehan in 1630 for his queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains. Later after breakfast drive to Jaipur enroute visiting Fatehpur Sikri, built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 to commemorate the birth of his son and later abandoned due to scarcity of water. Visit the remains, it fortifications within the city including Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisti, Panch Mahal and other palaces. On arrival transfer to hotel. Night stay in Jaipur.
Day 05 / Jaipur
Morning excursion to Amber Fort. Elephant ride ascent to the fort.
AMBER FORT PALACE - Amber is the classic romantic Rajasthani fort palace. Its construction was started by Man Singh I in 1592, and completed by his descendent Jai Singh I. Its forbidding exterior belies an inner paradise where a beautiful fusion of Mughal and Hindu styles finds it's ultimate expression. Continue sight-seeing.
CITY PALACE - A delightful blend of Mughal and traditional Rajasthani architecture, the City Palace sprawls over one-seventh of the area in the walled city. It houses the Chandra Mahal, Shri Govind Dev Temple and the City Palace Museum.
JANTAR MANTAR - This is the largest and the best preserved of the five observatories built by Jai Singh II in different parts of the country. This observatory consisting of outsized astronomical instruments is still in use.
HAWA MAHAL - The ornamental facade of this "Palace of Winds" is a prominent landmark in Jaipur. Their five-storey structures of sandstone plastered pink encrusted with fine trelliswork and elaborate balconies. The palace has 953 niches and windows. Built in 1799 by Pratap Singh, the Mahal was a royal grandstand for the palace women. Night stay in Jaipur.
Day 06 / Jaipur - Udaipur ( By road Apprx. 8 Hrs.) via Pushkar
Morning drive to Udaipur- an oasis in the desert state of Rajasthan enroute visiting Pushkar. Pushkar boasts temples, though few are as ancient as you might expect at such an important pilgrimage site, since many were deserted by Aurangzeb and subsequently rebuilt. The most famous is the Brahma Temple, said to be one of the few temples in the world dedicated to this deity. It's marked by red spire, and over the entrance gateway is the hans, or goose symbol, of Brahma, who is said to have personally chosen Pushkar as its site. Arrive Udaipur and transfer to hotel. Night stay in Udaipur.
Day 07 / Udaipur
Morning city sight seeing tour of Udaipur. The city is built in 1559 A.D. by Maharaja Udai Singh and has been described as the most romantic spot on the continent of India by Col. James Todd. Visit the City Palace museum, the Jagdish temple, Sahelion Ki Bari (Queen’s resort for their friends) Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandir (Folk art museum) and the Pratap Memorial. Rest of the day at leisure. Night stay in Udaipur.
Day 08 / Udaipur - Jodhpur ( By road Apprx. 7 Hrs.) via Ranakpur
After breakfast drive to Jodhpur in route visit Ranakpur Jain Temple. Ranakpur is one of the five holy places of the Jain community. These temples were built in the 15th century AD during the reign of Rana Kumbha and are enclosed within a wall. The basement is of 48, 000 sq. feet area that covers the whole complex. There are four subsidiary shrines, twenty-four pillared halls and eligibly domes supported by over four hundred columns. Continue drive to Jodhpur on arrival transfer to hotel. Night stay in Jodhpur.
Day 09 / Jodhpur
After a relaxed breakfast proceed for city sight seeing tour of Jodhpur. Jodhpur - the stronghold of the fierce Rathore clan, was founded in 1459 by Prince Jodha. Visit the Mehrangarh Fort, situated on a low sandstone hill. Within the fort, visit Moti Mahal and Phool Mahal. Also visit Jaswant Thada, an imposing marble cenotaph, built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant singh II around 1899 and Umaid Public gardens. Night stay in Jodhpur.
Day 10 / Jodhpur - Jaisalmer ( By road Approx. 7 Hrs.)
Morning after breakfast drive to Jaisalmer - induces a dramatic picture of utter magic and brilliance of the desert. The hostile terrain not with standing the warmth and color of people is simply over whelming. One of the main draws is the daunting 12th century Jaisalmer Fort and beautiful havelis which were built by wealthy merchants of Jaisalmer are yet another interesting aspect of the you can let your eyes caress the sloppy sand dunes while you ramble your way in a camel safari. Bhatti Rajput ruler Rawal Jaisal, after whom the city finds its name, founded Jaisalmer in 1156. The drive passes by dry vegetation, with villages of colorfully dressed people. Morning city sightseeing tour of Jaisalmer Visit Jaisalmer Fort, over the Trikuta hill, this fort is the biggest and the most beautiful landmark of the city. The fort is occupied by shops, stalls, and a number of other business concerns. It is also known as Sonar Quila or the Golden fort, rising from the sand, the mega structure merges with the golden hues of the desert ambience. The Jain temple, situated inside the fort, made between 12th and 15th century, bears testimony to Rajasthan unique artistry Visit the havelis; the mansions built by the wealthy merchants, which are still in very good condition. The intricate craftsmanship is beyond parallel. The havelis like the Patwon-ki-Haveli and alim-Singh-ki-Haveli are remarkable for their exclusive cutwork, yellow and red stone treatment and the bracket-shaped decoration of peacocks. The rich merchant inspired by the classic style of the royals, constructed huge mansions (havelis) adjacent to each other in the nature of medieval culture and profusely decorated walls and ceilings and intricately carved outdoors and interiors. In the afternoon, visit the Khuri Sand Dunes and the typical Rajasthani Desert Village. Take a camel ride to view the sunset from the dunes, (Same camels to be used for Safari - getting to know the camels) as the sky is set on fire. It can be an unforgettable experience. Day 12 / Jaisalmer - Bikaner ( By road Approx. 6 Hrs.)
Morning drive to Bikaner. On arrival transfer to the hotel. Afternoon city sight seeing tour. Bikaner is named after its founder Rao Bikaji in 1488. But long before this, the city was trade center on the caravan routes from Africa and West Asia. Bikaner’s dominant features are rippling sands and abundant sunshine. The city stands on an elevation, enclosed by a 7 Kms wall, which can be entered from 5 gate. Bikaner City is bolstered by imposing walls and has a 16th century fort housing old palaces, temples and mosque. Founded by Raja Rai Singh the fort is distinguished by its long range of 37 pavilions, a line of balconies and aerial windows of varying designs. Also visit Lallgarh Palace, the museum, Bhanda Sagar Jain, Deshnoke Rat temple and The Camel’s Breeding Farm. Night stay in Bikaner.
Day 13 / Bikaner - Mandawa ( By road Approx. 06 Hrs.)
Morning drive to Mandawa, on arrival transfer to the hotel. Later visit the painted havelies of the Dundlod town and surrounding areas of the Mandawa, Mandawa founded in 1755 by Thakur Nawal Singh and still the home of his descendants, has beautiful frescoes, havelis and mansions. Mandawa castle one of the finest castles of Rajasthan, is now a hotel and house of collection of armories, costumes of ancestors, canons from 1820 ancient coins, numismatic collection and many other interesting items, preserved in a museum. Night stay in Mandawa.
Day 14 / Mandawa - Delhi (By road Approx. 06 Hrs.) - Departure
Morning After breakfast drive to Delhi and transfer to airport for your onward journey.
Arrive late evening at New Delhi’s IndiraGandhiInternationalAirport. Following customs, immigration formalities and baggage collection you will be met by our representative who will later take you to your hotel.

The city consists of two parts - Old & New Delhi. Old Delhi was the capital of Muslim India between 17th and 19th century and has many mosques, monuments and forts. New Delhi, the imperial city was created by the British as the capital of India. In 1911, Edwin Lutyens, the most renowned English architect of the day, was chosen to design New Delhi.
Begin your exploration starting in Old Delhi.
Visit Jama Masjid, the royal mosque built by the Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan in 1656. It is one of the largest and the most beautiful mosques in the world. Constructed in red sandstone and white marble, the main prayer hall has a seating capacity of more than 20,000 worshippers.
Enjoy a cycle rickshaw ride through the narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk, the spine of Old Delhi. Jahanara Begum, the daughter of Shah Jahan designed this commercial place in 1648. Culminate the rickshaw ride at Red fort. Built in red stand stone by Shah Jahan in 1648, this magnificent monument is laid out along River Yamuna as an irregular octagon.
The main entrance to the fort is the Lahori Gate, which was once a royal market where jewellers, painters and craftsmen sold their wares. Within the walls of the fort is ‘Diwan-E-Am’ for public audiences, ‘Diwan-E-Khas’, where private audiences were granted. It is this hall that contained the famous peacock throne, which was later plundered by Nadir Shah.
Also visit Rajghat, the site of Mahatma Gandhi's cremation.

Capital to seven different cultures over the course of its history, New Delhi is a fascinating fusion of them all.
The art and architecture of the city reflects its ancient and multifaceted heritage. A Hindu fortress, a Mughal tomb, an Islamic minaret and mosque and a Bahai temple give an idea of the cultural richness of the city.
The highlight of the New Delhi is Luytens' architectural conceptions that were totally different from the Hindu or Mughal architecture. The city centre has wide, straight avenues in a strict layout, plenty of parks and low colonial buildings with spacious gardens.Drive through the majestic boulevards of New Delhi designed by the Edwin Lutyens in 1920. Lutyens' Delhi includes the grand government buildings and parliament house.
The Rashtrapati Bhawan (Presidential Palace) is where the Viceroy once lived and now is the official residence of the President of India.It is an imposing structure with 340 rooms, constructed high up on Raisina Hill. View India Gate, a war memorial arch built in honour of 90,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives in World War.Continue your city tour and visit famous Humayun Tomb. The first great example of mughal architecture in India, it developed to become the hallmark of the Mughal Dynasty. Culminate your tour at Qutab Minar, a soaring tower of victory, 72.5 meter high with five distinct stories.The construction of this minaret commenced in 1193 and was completed in 1368. Built on the foundation of a Hindu temple, many elements of the construction reflect their Hindu and Jain origins. Within the complex, there are myriad monuments that combine both Islamic calligraphy and Hindu motifs.

Bikaner’s forts, palaces and temples are magnificent creations in red and yellow sandstone and are living manifestations of its rich historical and architectural legacy.Begin the tour with a visit to Junagarh Fort, one of the most interesting forts in Rajasthan.With its sumptuously decorated interiors, the fort was built in 1588 by Raja Rai Singh it is unusual in the sense that it was one of the few major forts of Rajasthan that was not built on a hilltop. Instead, it was built on the desert plains; its rugged sandstone bastions and graceful pavilions and balconies are silhouetted against the sky. Continue your tour and visit the famous National Research Centre on Camel (formerly known as the Camel breeding farm) located at a distance of about 10 km from Bikaner city.The Centre has developed a camel museum, which attracts the attention of researchers and tourist. Deshnok is a village located about 25 km south of Bikaner and is the site of the famous 600-year-old KarniMataTemple dedicated to Karni Mata, a form of Goddess Durga. The temple has huge intricately carved silver gates. The most unusual feature of the temple is the rats that scamper freely within the sanctum of the temple. They are regarded as sacred and are fed by priests and devotees, owing to the belief that these rodents will be reincarnated as holy men. There are seven gates that lead into the fort. Inside the fort is a series of courtyards and palaces.
The palace apartments with marvellously carved panels, latticed windows have evocative names such as Sukh Mahal (PleasurePalace), Moti Mahal (PearlPalace), the Phool Mahal (FlowerPalace) and the Sheesh Mahal (Palace of Mirrors).
These palaces house a fabulous collection of trappings of Indian royalty including a superb collection of palanquins, elephant howdahs (used when the Maharajas rode their elephants in processions), miniature paintings, musical instruments and costumes.
Continue your tour to Jaswant Thada, located a short distance from the fort, just off the fort road, is a white marble memorial to Maharaja Jaswant Singh II.

The cenotaph built in 1899, was followed by the royal crematorium and three other cenotaphs that stand nearby. There are some beautiful marble jali (lattice) work and fine views from the terrace in front of the cenotaphs.

Ranakpur boasts some of the most exquisite Jain temples in the country famous for their intricate friezes and sculptures. It is one of the holiest Jain sites of India. Nestled on the banks of the river Maghai and sequestered by mountains, Ranakpur's beauty is accentuated by its seclusion.The main Chaumukha (four faced) temple was built in 1439 and is dedicated to the first Enlightened One, Adinatha Rishabdeva. An inscription in it traces its origin to the reign of Rana Kumbha. Erected on a raised platform, it is surrounded by 66 subsidiary shrines. It has 1444 beautifully carved pillars, of which no two are alike.

Evening, enjoy boat cruise on Lake Pichola. The picturesque lake is surrounded by hills, palaces, temples, bathing ghats and embankments. Two island palaces, Jag Mandir and Jag Niwas (LakePalace) on the lake are of breathtaking magnificence.

En-route; visit to Ekling ji and Nagda Temples.
Eklinji: is a complex of 108 temples enclosed by high walls dedicated to Lord Shiva - the deity of the Maharanas of Mewar. Located about 22km north of Udaipur, the Shiva temple here was originally built in 734 AD. The walled complex includes an elaborately pillared hall under a large pyramidal roof and features a four-faced Shiva image of black marble.A religious place from every angle it is also well known as Kailashpuri or the abode of Shiva, the family deity of the ruling Mewar dynasty. Even today the Maharana of Udaipur visits this marble temple every Monday. The Lord is regarded as the real ruler of the state who functions through his representative on earth, the Maharana of Udaipur
Nagda: is located 2 km north of Sri Eklingji and 23 km from Udaipur. It has temples dating back to the 6th century, including the famous 11th century Sas-Bahu (mother-in-law-daughter-in-law) twin temples with intricate architecture and carvings and the Adbhutji temple. Both temples are at the edge of a lake and submerged within the lake are several later structures.

It also has an art gallery with an excellent collection of miniature paintings, carpets, royal paraphernalia and rare astronomical works in Arabic, Persian, Latin and Sanskrit.Proceed to the awe inspiring Jantar Mantar Observatory, a stone astrological and astronomical Observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh in the 18th century.Culminate the tour with a rickshaw ride in the colourful bazaar of the Old city (Note: 02 Guests per Rickshaw). A rickshaw ride in old bazaar will enable you to enjoy the old charm while travelling in different way. Tour the chambers and hallways of the palace, famous for the excellence of its design and decoration. Within the complex is Ganesh Pol, an imposing gateway painted with the images of the elephant-headed god, Ganesh. The merging of Rajput and Mughal architectural styles is captured in the Sukh Niwas and Jas Mandir apartments, and the Charbagh garden with its perfectly proportioned landscaping.
Pierced screen windows offer views from different vantage points, and shimmering mirrors encrust the walls of Sheesh Mahal.

Morning drive to Agra (260 kms/ 06 hrs approx) en-route visiting Fatehpur Sikri.
Continue your drive and arrive Fatehpur Sikri – famous as Akbar’s abandoned capital, a city that still echoes a great victory whisper in its ruins. This deserted red sandstone city was built by Emperor Akbar as his capital and Palace in the late 16th century.
It is a veritable fairy tale city and its ruins are in pristine condition. It is not hard to imagine what the court life must have been like in the former days of its grandeur.
Also visit the Bulund Darwaza, which is the largest gateway in the world.
Following your visit, drive to Agra. Arrive in Agra .

Begin your tour with a visit to Taj Mahal.
Poets have tried to illustrate its beauty in words. Painters have drawn vibrant pictures of it and musicians have played to large crowds with the Taj Mahal in the background.Termed as one of the world's new seven wonders, the Taj is a complete show-stealer. Standing tall and proud in the city of Agra, it was built in the memory of the beautiful Anjuman Bano Begum.It is a massive mausoleum of white marble, built between 1631 and 1648 on order of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan.This universally admired architectural wonder is the best tribute to the spirit of love. The Taj Mahal is ultimately the culmination of two centuries of evolving designs of the Mughal. The architect is lost in oblivion of the vast pages of history written and re-written.
The work on the mausoleum started in 1633 and 20,000 workers laboured for 17 years to finish this marvel. It was a joint effort of skilled architects, stone-carvers, calligraphers, inlay craftsmen, and masons from Persia and Turkey. Forming a perfect cube the Taj stands in a landscaped Mughal garden with two sandstone buildings that add up to the beauty of the monument while the four minarets at each corner beautifully frame the tomb.The coloured inlay brings out the sculptural work and relief carvings that are of floral, calligraphic and geometric designs. (Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays).Situated two kilometres towards west of the Taj Mahal on the banks of the river Yamuna. It was built by the third Mughal Emperor, Akbar, and added to by his son Jahangir and grandson Shahjahan. Agra Fort is an imposing structure with walls of red sandstone, almost two miles long and contains palaces, audience halls and mosques built by all the three emperors. The fort presents a good sampling of Islamic and Hindu architectural styles.
