Jammu and Kashmir
It is a state in Northern India that is located mostly in the Himalayan mountains and shares a border with the states of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab to the South. It consists of three regions: Jammu, The Kashmir valley, and Ladakh. Srinagar is the summer capital and Jammu is the winter capital. The Kashmir valley is famous for its beautiful mountainous landscape and Jammu's numerous shrines attract tens of thousands of Hindu pilgrims every year. Ladakh is also known as "Little Tibet", is renowned for its remote mountain beauty and its Buddhist culture. It is the only state in India with a Muslim - majority population. It is home to several valleys such as Kashmir valley, Chenab valley, Poonch Valley, Sind Valley, and Lidder valley. The Jhelum River is the only major Himalayan river that flows through the Kashmir valley. Jammu and Kashmir is home to several Himalayan glaciers.
Itinerary :
DAY 1 - Srinagar :
Arrive Srinagar, meeting upon arrival and transfer with assistance to Deluxe home boat/hotel. Evening free for relax and enjoy the scenic view of mountain ranges around Dal lake. Dinner and overnight stay at Houseboat/Hotel.
DAY 2 - Srinagar - Local sightseeing (27 kms):
In morning, boat ride by Shikara to explore Dal lake, Waterways, Back Waters, Canals, Floating Garden, Vegetable Gardens, Water Lilies, Lotus flowers, Easily accessible Mobile Vendors, Floating Handicrafts centre and inherited lifestyle of people living inside the lake since decades. Return back for lunch. In evening, visit famous Mughal Gardens, Cheshma Shahi, Nishat ( Garden of pleasure ), Shalimar (Abode of love ) Mughal laid out in the 16th century and these fall along the bank of Dal lake in the heart of Srinagar city and Shankaracharya temple located on the hillock. Enroute visiting handloom centre famous for production of Pashmina/Shahtoos shawls and world over reckoned carpets. Return to houseboat/hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 3 - Srinagar - Sonamarg - Srinagar (174 kms) :
After breakfast, full day excursion to Sonamarg "The Meadow of Gold". The place offers incredible Scenic beauty, dense Pine forests, Gigantic Mountains. The place itself is a popular resort for mountaineers, rock climbing, besides an important halt on way to Kargil (Ladakh) and provides the ideal base for various trekking routes, high mountains, lakes, glaciers and Sri Amarnath Ji holy cave. In evening return back to Deluxe houseboat/hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 4 - Srinagar - Pahalgam (96 kms):
After breakfast, full day excursion to Pahalgam. In south - east of Srinagar situated at an altitude of 2130 mts above the sea level. It is Kashmir's most popular resort surrounded by high mountains, dense forests, high mountain lakes. It also offers 9 hole golf course, skiing, pony trails, angling, horss riding, trekking and Aru Valley, Lidderwat Valley, Kolhai glacier, Shesh Nag, Chandanwari, Baisam and Mamil famous for old Shiva temple. Check in hotel and aftee lunch explore the surroundings with scenic view all around and return back to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 5 - Pahalgam :
In morning, start tour to Aru Valley or Chandanwari ( the base for Amarnath cave ) and return back to Pahalgam for lunch at hotel. Evening free for personal activities.
DAY 6 - Pahalgam - Gulmarg (148 kms) :
After breakfast, full day excursion to Gulmarg lies in the west of Srinagar at a distance of 56 kms. Snow caped mountains are all around. It is premier winter sports, Ski resort for skiers. For joy seekers, cable car upto Alpather via Kongdori by Asia's longest run cable car ride. Return back to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 7 - Gulmarg - Departure :
In morning, free till departure transfer to Srinagar Airport to board your scheduled flight for onward journey.
