Bhimtal (भीमताल) is a town and a nagar panchayat in Nainital district in the state of Uttarakhand, India, situated at an altitude of 1370 meters above sea level and is about 22 kilometers from Nainital. The major attraction in Bhimtal is the Bhimtal Lake, which has an island at its centre. Besides tourism, Bhimtal has also now become a mini district headquarters since most of the district administration offices have been shifted to the newly constructed Vikas Bhawan, the building complex for district administrative offices.

How to Reach Bhimtal
By Train :-
The nearest railway station is Kathgodam, located at a distance of 30 km from Bhimtal. Two trains run daily between Delhi and Kathgodam. From Kathgodam, buses and taxis are available for Bhimtal.
By Road :-
Bhimtal is well-connected to major cities and towns of Uttarakhand via motorable roads. Buses from ISBT Anand Vihar, New Delhi, are available to Kathgodam and Nainital. Taxis to Bhimtal are also easily available from Almora, Nainital and Kathgodam.
By Air :-
The nearest airport to Bhimtal is Pant Nagar Airport, which is located around 58 km away. From the airport, you can hire a taxi in order to reach Bhimtal. Pantnagar airport is a minor domestic airport. This minor airport is connected with the airlines from all over India. Tourists can land at this place and can later get local buses or hire a taxi to reach Bhimtal smoothly. The buses are quite comfortable and luxurious.

Review :- Nice lake with clear water and perfect scenery. Enjoyed boating and some of good restaurants enjoyed food at restaurant just by the side of Lake. The food was delicious and comparatively economical.
Review :- On our 3 days stay, we visited this place everyday. It is so less crowded and commercialized than the Naini lake. If you want a quiet place and relaxed visit, go to the corner which does not offer boating. If you want to shop, eat and boat then go at another entry point where boats are.. So it suits all. We went to both entries- the quiet one and the boating point. Both offered different and delightful experience. You can shop for kids. Try golgappas there - awesome! This place offers zorbing too - a funny experience for us. Overall a memorable exp - if i could, i would love to go there again and would try both entry points once again.
Review :- Activities that can be performed in the lake is Boating, Kayaking and Zorbing. Missing paddle boating in Bhimtal lake. Fish aquarium in the small island. Elderly/ religious person can visit nearby temple. Activities start at around 11.00 and run until 6.00 PM in summers.
Review :- If you want to avoid the rush of Nainital but want to have similar experience, this is the place to be. Boating can be enjoyed in Bhimtal lake. You can also enjoy various outdoor activities like paragliding, rappelling, flying fox..
Review :- A much better lake than Naini lake for sure. Less crowded, clean water, all the facilities as is with Naini lake. I stayed for a night in Hotel recommended by G and G Group. Major issues with the bhimtal lake area is : 1) Reachability to most of the Hotels and resorts is not very good, Bhimtal being a small town doesn't offer any sort of public transport. 2) Not many eateries options available around bhimtal lake.
