It is a landlocked Indian state located in the Himalayan mountains. It is the least populous state in India and the second-smallest state after Goa in total area. The climate ranges from subtropical to high alpine and Kangchenjunga, the world's third-highest peak is located on Sikkim's border with Nepal. It is a popular tourist destination owing to its culture, scenery, and biodiversity. It also has the only open land border between India and China. Sikkim's capital and largest city is Gangtok. Almost 25% of the state is covered by the Khangchendzonga National Park. Sikkim's economy is largely dependent on agriculture and tourism. Nestling in the Himalayan mountains, the state of Sikkim is characterized by mountainous terrain and almost the entire state is hilly. Sikkim's hot springs are renowned for their medicinal and therapeutic values. It is situated in an ecological hotspot of the lower Himalayas and forested regions of the state exhibit a diverse range of flora and fauna. It is home to around 5,000 species of flowering plants and among the animals more commonly found in the alpine zone are yaks, mainly reared for their milk, meat, and as a beast of burden. It has more than 550 species of birds and also has a rich diversity of arthropods.


Sikkim - Darjeeling tour :


Itinerary :

DAY 1 :
Arrive at the airport and transfer to Gangtok. Check into the hotel and rest the day at leisure. Overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 2 - Excursion to Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir :
After breakfast, start the excursion to Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir. Overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 3 - Gangtok - Lachen :
After breakfast, drive to Lachen. En-route visit Singhik Viero Point, Seven Sister Waterfalls, Naga Waterfall. Overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 4 - Lachen - Chopta Valley - Gurudongmar Lake - Lachung :
Early morning drive to Chopta Valley and Gurudongmar Lake. Back to hotel and after lunch transfer to Lachung. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 5 - Lachung - Yumthang Valley Excursion :
After breakfast, proceed to Yumthang Valley also known as Valley of Flowers. On the way back, visit Hot Spring considered to have medicinal properties. Overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 6 - Lachung - Gangtok :
After breakfast, departure for Gangtok, en-route visits wonderful Bheema and Twin Waterfalls. Check into the hotel and overnight stay.

DAY 7 - Gangtok local sightseeing - Pelling :
After breakfast, visit Banzakhri Falls, Cottage industry and Handicraft center, Flower Show, Dro - Dul Chorten, and Institute of Tibetology. At the noon, drive to Pelling. Check into the hotel and overnight stay.

DAY 8 - Pelling sightseeing :
After breakfast, start for full day sightseeing - Darap village, Rimbi Waterfalls, Sewaro Rock garden, Khecheopalri Lake, and Khangchendzonga waterfalls. Later visit Pemayangtse Monastery, Rabdantse Ruins, New Helipad Ground. Overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 9 - Pelling - Darjeeling :
After breakfast, drive to Darjeeling. Check-in hotel and rest day at leisure. Overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 10 - Darjeeling sightseeing :
Early morning drive to Tiger Hill to watch the sunrise over Mt. Khangchendzonga on your back visit Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop. After breakfast, visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, P.N. Zoological Park, Tenzing Rock, Tibetan Refugee Self - help center, Tea Garden, Ava Art Gallery, and Japanese Temple. Evening free for shopping and leisure. Overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 11 - Darjeeling - Kalimpong sightseeing :
After breakfast, drive to Kalimpong. Check-in hotel and in noon visit Mangal Dham, Deolo Hills, Dr. Graham's Home, Golf Garden, Durpin Dara Hill, and Flower Nurseries. Overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 12 - Kalimpong - Departure :
After breakfast, check out the hotel and transfer to the airport for an onward journey.

DAY 6 - Darjeeling - Jorethang - Pelling :
Ride to Jorethang and onwards to popular tourist destination Pelling which offers a view of snow-capped mountain ranges of the Eastern Himalayas.

DAY 7 - Pelling - Yukon :
From Pelling reach Yukson - the starting point of the trekking route to Dzongri and the base camp of Mt. Kangchenjunga.

DAY 8 :
Yukon - Ravangla.

DAY 9 :
Ravangla - Gangtok.
Ride from Ravangla to Gangtok - the capital of Sikkim.

DAY 10 - Gangtok :
Visit Tsango Lake on the Nathula - Gangtok road. Local sightseeing in and around Gangtok.

DAY 11 - Gangtok - Kalimpong :
Arrival and local sightseeing in and around Kalimpong.

DAY 12 :
Kalimpong - Rishop.

DAY 13 - Rishop - Lava - Teesta :
Lava presents a landscape that is the ultimate splendor of nature. Ride onwards to camp on the banks of river Teesta.

DAY 14 - Teesta :
Spend the entire day on the river Teesta. Continue to camp next to the river.

DAY 15 - Teesta - Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary :
Ride to the Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary situated at the foothills of Eastern Himalayas and on the banks of the river Torsa in West Bengal. Stay at rest house in the park.

DAY 16 - Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary :
Visit the park and night stay at the rest house.

DAY 17 - Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary - Bagdogra :
Departure to Bagdogra airport from Jaldapara. Flight back to Delhi and onwards.
